In the Beginning Was the Word

Peaceful Park on the Rum River

If you can think - you can write. Where then is the struggle? I suppose committing to paper your thoughts somehow make them real, and not as easy to erase or take-back. Thoughts are much more fluid and malleable. As soon as one runs into a roadblock it is possible to skitter off in another direction, divert attention and relieve the burden of true acceptance of reality. Putting to paper the flow of thoughts commits one to dealing with reality as it is! And though we may stop writing - we seldom stop thinking! The genius of the writer is that she does not stop writing because the thoughts don't go as expected or desired, but continues on to where they lead.

The writer opens up the gates of thought and experience to go wherever they are lead by their thoughts. It really is not all that hard if one is committed to following the flow of their thoughts. The part of the self that stop the writing is the censor! That part of us that says "oh no" and runs scared. The part of us that must avoid the truth and dealing with the truth. The part of us that needs to protect from whatever lives beyond in the next word or phrase. The part of us that fears failure and prefers to quit instead!
